Poppy Damazer Mezzo-soprano (ex- pupil of High Hurstwood School)

Poppy is currently studying at the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Anne Mason, where she is supported by the David and Alasdair MacWilliam Scholarship, The Rath Underwood Scholarship and the Girdlers Trust Scholarship. Poppy has completed a MMus at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Distinction. She founded the UEA Opera company and sang the title role in their debut sell-out production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Performance highlights include Howard Moody’s Agreed at Glyndebourne and Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène with New Sussex Opera. Roles whilst training include Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Carmen, Cendrillon, Florence (Albert Herring), Frau Reich (Merry Wives of Windsor) and The Monitor (Suor Angelica). Poppy is the 2023 winner of The Dorothy Davies Ingram Award and The Harlequin Agency Prize.
